Our History

Waxing the City began in 2003, with Summer Vasilas and Alex Arlotta. Alex and Summer had been working in the salon industry for several years, and both found they had a particular talent for waxing. With growing demand from their clients and a belief that a waxing studio could succeed, they launched the first Waxing the City Studio in downtown Denver.

This studio was founded on the principles of superior waxes, expertly-trained staff, and compassionate and caring customer service. This meant hiring the best estheticians and training them to be even better. The team created a proprietary training course to instill Waxing Standards of Excellence in each licensed esthetician. This training is so unique that a new term was coined to describe it: Cerology^® waxing services. Derived from the Latin “cera” for wax, our expert waxers are known as Cerologist™ technicians who perform the art of wax.

In the early years, clients would drive for hours for the unrivaled waxing services at Waxing the City. Recognizing that our clients deserved more convenience, the founders looked to expand. By 2010, Waxing the City boasted three studios in the greater Denver area and a studio in Dallas, Texas. National expansion was inevitable, and in 2012, Waxing the City joined forces with Anytime Fitness to bring Waxing the City to the entire country.

With a proven model, world-class support systems, and a growing industry, the sky’s the limit for Waxing the City’s future.
